Susan Kay Nutting, passed away peacefully at the age of 74, on Saturday, December 5, 2021, at Amita St. Joseph Medical Center.  She was born on January 19, 1947, the daughter of the late Elmer A. and Mary C. (nee Sheda) Holle.  Susan was born in Marysville, KS and grew up in Omaha, Nebraska.  She was a graduate of Omaha South High School.  Susan retired in 2014 after more than 20 dedicated years as a Bank Teller and Bookkeeper with First National Bank of LaGrange.  

In her younger years, Susan was a crafty woman who enjoyed crocheting and ceramics. She always enjoyed curling up with a good book or dancing around the house to the oldies. The most cherished times were when she traveled throughout the country with her husband, children and even later on with her grandchildren.  Family was always the most important part of her life.  

Susan is survived by her two children, Jeff Nutting and Jennifer (Jeff) Gerdes; three grandchildren, Noah Nutting and Julianna and Ryan Gerdes; sisters-in-law, Jane Gomez and Peggy (Rick) White, and Linda Nutting; and her niece, Trisha Maresh.

She is preceded by her loving husband of 48 years, Theodore Nutting (2017); her parents; and her siblings, Cindy Holle and Dennis Holle.

Funeral Services for Susan Kay Nutting will be held at 11:30 a.m.  on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral  Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL.  Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
