Obituary of Lejuana Buchanan
Lejuana Buchanan, age 55, of Plainfield, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, following a short but courageous battle with breast cancer.
Born April 8, 1966 in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Betty Martin and Milton Stewart. She was raised on the south side of Chicago, and was a graduate of Dunbar Vocational High School. She continued her education at Roosevelt University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree, and then worked for many years as a financial analyst specializing in international collections for Fiserv, Inc.
Lejuana was an outstanding and sensational mother and grandmother who instilled in her family her values of hard work and determination. She enjoyed working on projects around her home, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially her precious granddaughter.
Surviving are her beloved daughter, Kenyanna (Danielle) Buchanan of Plainfield; two loving sons, Daniel Buchanan of Chicago, and Jarell Shanks of Joliet; her adoring granddaughter, Angel Buchanan; two dear sisters, Renee Martin of Bolingbrook, and Irishsteain Morris of Romeoville; four nieces and nephews, Veronica Martin, Erik L. Wallace, II, Devon Wallace and Julie Martin; and a host of grand nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Tyrone Martin.
A Memorial Gathering for Lejuana Buchanan will be held Friday, December 17, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, with a closing prayer at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Plainfield Township Cemetery.
