Obituary of Allan Ray Byers
Allan R. Byers passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the age of 89 in Joliet, Illinois. He resided in Lombard, Illinois since 1970. He was born on April 25, 1932, along with his twin sister Ellyn in Logan, Illinois to George and Marie (Allen) Byers. He is survived by his son, Thomas, his brother Glen, and three grandchildren – Christina, Michael, and James.
Allan spent his early childhood years in Central Illinois in Taylorville. The family moved to Dragerton, Utah where he spent his teen years roaming southeast Utah. He graduated from Carbon High School in 1950.
He entered and served in the 442nd Air Police Squadron from 1951 to 1955 including time overseas during the Korean War.
He loved the outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping, and raced stock cars with his cousin Lee. He also loved raising his son, Thomas and was actively involved in coaching his son’s various sports teams including baseball, football, and bowling.
