Obituary of Robert A. Draznik

Age 92, resident of Shorewood, IL, died Monday, February 14, 2022 at his home.  He was born on July 7, 1929 to his parents, Robert and Lucile B. (nee Allendorf) Draznik at old Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, IL.

Bob is survived by his wife, Lorraine M (nee Robesson) Draznik; his four sons, Dr. Michael R. Draznik of Cincinnati, OH, Mark S. (Donna) Draznik of Wichita, KS, Kenneth W. Draznik and William R. Draznik; his grandchildren, William and Gordon Draznik and Katie Schell, all of Cincinnati, OH, Matthew Draznik of Overland Park, KS, Amanda Draznik of Wichita, KS, Peter and Zoe Draznik, and Emily Draznik; and several great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Orville Eugene Draznik; and sister, Barbara Carter Donisch.

Bob graduated from Washington Grade School in 1943, Joliet Township High School in 1947, and Joliet Junior College in 1949.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1953 and MBA from the University of Chicago in 1975.

He was employed by General Electric, Co. following graduation in 1953 and worked at the Meter and Instrument Div., West Lynn, MA, Jet Engine Div., Evendale, OH and Fractional Hp Motor Div in Ft. Wayne, IN.  In 1955, he was employed by American Steel and Wire Div USS in Joliet until 1966 when he joined Sunbeam Corp., in Oakbrook, IL.  He was President of Perfection Heat Treating a wholly-owned Sunbeam company.  He joined Carpenter Technology Corp. in 1969 and served in various capacities in Reading, PA, Troy, MI and Melrose Park, IL until his retirement in 1994.

In 1939, he joined the Joliet Grade School Band under Director, Forrest McAllister and in 1943 the Joliet Township High School Band under Director, A. R. McAllister and later Bruce Houseknecht.  He was a founding member of the JTHS Alumni Band under Ted Lega and later a member of the BiCentennial Park Band under Ed Jones and of the Joliet Junior College Community Band under Jerry Lewis.

A private graveside service was held for Robert A. “Bob” Draznik at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet with military honors presented.
