Obituary of Mitchell Grant Claffy

Mitchell Grant Claffy, age 31, passed away unexpectedly, on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. He was born in Olympia Fields, IL, on January 15, 1991, to Milton and Mary Jo (nee Bishop) Claffy. Mitchell was raised in Joliet and was a graduate of Joliet West High School with the class of 2009 where he was involved with ROTC.

He was a quiet individual, had a witty sense of humor and was proud of who he was. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, bonfires, swimming, playing computer games and game art design. Mitchell loved animals, especially his two rescue cats, Mira and Jesse and rescue dog Peaches.

Mitchell is survived by his loving parents; his brother, Evan (Emily) Claffy; paternal grandparents, George and Patricia Claffy; and his maternal grandparents, Joseph Sr. and Nancy Bishop. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

He is preceded by his aunt, Kathleen Scalise; and his two uncles, Frank Scalise and Kelvin Munsch.

Visitation for Mitchell Grant Claffy will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet, IL, from 3:00-8:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. the funeral home chapel. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Joliet Pride Network or Will County Humane Society would be appreciated.
