Obituary of Perry Jones Jr.
Perry Jones Jr., age 85, of Elwood, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Alden Estates of Naperville, with his family by his side.
Born April 14, 1937 in Moss, Mississippi he was the son of the late Perry and Ruby (Heard) Jones Sr., and was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Perry worked for Caterpillar, Inc. starting in 1959 and retiring as Tool Crib Manager in 1992 after 33 years of service.
He was an active member of the Joliet Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where he served as an Elder. He loved to travel and tend to his yard.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary Alice (Keys) Jones; his children, Perry (Elaine) Jones III, Victor Jones, Cynthia Jones, Kowanda Jallow, and Stacey (Emily) Jones; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Rebecca Waddell; one sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Jones; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Simon Jones; and three sisters, Tempy (Joe) Weal, Jerlene (Jack Sr.) Crosby and Corine (Robert Sr.) Ammons.
The family would like to thank Perry’s caregivers, Mary Joyce Thompson, John Adams and Lee Seivert for their loving care.
Funeral services for Perry Jones, Jr. will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 12:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
