I remember leavnng back in my chair in music to listen to the different types of instruments being played on the speaker. I will forever think of Mr Lackey as an "instrumental" person who introduced me to different ways of thinking and listening. Thank you, Mr Lackey. Bless You.

I have wracked my heart and brain trying to come up with something of value to say. I’ve finally had to admit that I don’t have the words to say all that I want you to know, except this: He is at peace now. Thank you everyone for all the words of comfort. Our father will be greatly missed.

I remember Phil giving me piano lessons when I was little at ISU. He must have been a student at the time. I always enjoyed the Lackey family visits to Bloomongton. He was just a very nice guy.

My most sincere sympathy to the entire family. During Howard's tenure as Principal at Grand Prairie, he always spoke well of Phil as a good teacher and person. I'm sure he and Phil are now talking music and comparing memories of the good old days.
I'll never forget Phil banging the gong as the finale of our birthday celebration for Pastor Beagle at Plymouth Congregational Church. It brought the house down.

So sorry for your loss! Mr. Lackey was my fifth grade teacher at Grand Prairie in 1989-1990. He always made us laugh and made learning fun. We always thought it was funny when he would call you Sally (even the boys). I am happy he lived a long life and I know his memory lives on in the many lives he has touched over the years.

My heart and prayers are with Mr Lackey’s family. Mr Lackey was my first educator in music at Grand Prairie Elementary School. He allowed me to practice everyday at recess which helped relieved me from some of the stress and challenges experienced at recess. I have forever been thankful to him for this. He honored me with all my hard work and practice with the 5th grade music award. He gave me a big boost of confidence to continue to strive for progress my skill and love of music. I enjoyed all my years of school in band because he started me on such a positive path. It means the world to a child when an educator believes in your talent. He plays a special role in those childhood memories for me. Please know he was loved by his students.

My sympathies to all of you. He was my music teacher back in the 70’s. He touched so many lives!! I still remember him teaching us silly songs and being just a grade A teacher. I will forever think of him fondly.

He made Grand Prarie music class a joy. I never did see the sqeaky mouse that he said kept running up the clock in music class or the little frog he kept in his pocket (always goofing with us kids). Great memories! He will be missed!

Jesus said,John 14:1-2, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Fathers house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for You"
My Grandmother on my mom's side often said that Phil was the most True Blue person she ever knew,
My Dad was the most Patience and Compassionate Man I ever knew.
My Dad never said a curse word, never spoke ill of anyone, always positive, never drank, never got angry.
I have comfort in knowing that He is in the Presence of GOD, And that is an AWESOME thought.
Much LOVE Dad, John Phillip Lackey
