Obituary of D'Ann Michell DeLap

D’Ann Michell DeLap, passed away at the age of 67, on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Bolingbrook Adventist Hospital in hospice, surrounded by the love of her family.  D’Ann was born in Minneapolis, MN, on April 18, 1955, the daughter of the late Alden and Henry (nee Silman) Stromberg.  She moved to Joliet in her younger years and graduated from Joliet West High School. D’Ann continued her education and enjoyed a long rewarding career as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  She worked many years as an LPN at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home and the Will County Detention Facility, retiring in 2017.

D’Ann lived her life as a member of the Lutheran faith, and focused on hard work and raising her family.  Her nimble fingers were often busy knitting or crocheting blankets that she gave to loved ones, and she never missed an opportunity to send a card or kind note for birthdays, special occasion, and holidays. While D’Ann was often soft spoken and demur in the public eye, she never faltered in her convictions, and the depth of her love knew no boundaries.

D’Ann is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Michael Jay DeLap; her daughter, Andrea Elise DeLap; and her siblings, Colleen (Jim) Thews, Bentley (Laurie) Stromberg, and Jill (Enrique) Ramos.  Nieces and nephews also survive.

She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Eric DeLap; her parents; and her sister, Lori Susan Ray Stromberg.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet from 5:00-7:00 p.m.  As it was D’Ann’s request, cremation rites have been accorded.
