Obituary of Jean Marie Goosinow
Jean Marie Goosinow
(nee Freund)
Jean Marie Goosinow, of Joliet, passed away at the age of 65, on June 11, 2022, at Edward Hospital in Naperville, surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born on February 28, to the late Harvey and Bernice (nee Mueller) Freund, 1957. She was born and raised in the Wrigleyville neighborhood of Chicago and is a graduate of St. Benedict's High School, class of 1975.
Jean loved spending time with her husband, especially celebrating strikes and spares at their local bowling alley. The two spent many a quiet evening in, watching the latest American Idol episode or enjoying in some friendly competition as they attempted to outduel each other at solving Wheel of Fortune puzzles. Her days were spent busy with gardening and redecorating the family home as long as her beloved Cubs weren’t scheduled to play. Yet, while she was adept at tending to the life in her garden, those accomplishments paled in comparison to the way that she tended to the love of her grandchildren. The time spent with her grandchildren was the most precious, and they will carry her love with them throughout their lives.
Jean is survived by her loving husband of almost 40 years, Carl Goosinow, Sr., of Joliet; her children, Jacqueline (Mark) Myers of Crest Hill, Nicole (Johnny) Canate of Carneys Point, NJ, Carl Goosinow, Jr. of Joliet and Dustin Goosinow of Warrenville; twelve grandchildren, Michael, Marcus (Courtney), Mark, Jr., Tracy, Corey, Aja, Justin, Caylee, Alyssa, Abel, Mia, and L.J.; and her two brothers, John (Liz) Freund, and Mike (Barb) Freund. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
She is preceded by her parents; and her brother and sister-in-law, Patrick (Vicky) Freund.
As it was Jean's wish, cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held privately by the family.
