Obituary of Timothy John Haller
Timothy John Haller
Timothy John Haller, age 61, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 20, 2024 at his home in Rockdale, IL. Tim was born in Joliet, IL on February 25, 1963, the son of the late Thomas and Joan (nee Alexander) Haller, themselves both of Lockport, IL. Tim’s father was a talented, 3-sport All-American athlete at the University of Illinois, and after graduation he moved on to a successful career in Major League Baseball as a player, coach and executive. Tim cherished and often recalled growing up in a baseball household where he frequently had dinners and hung out with the likes of Willie Mays and Willie McCovey and other baseball families. He knew that he was living a very special life at the time, and he never took for granted these special moments, sharing time with baseball legends.
Tim was amazing, having had three fulfilling careers in his lifetime. First, he was a professional baseball player in his own right; playing at the minor league levels for the Baltimore Orioles and the Chicago White Sox. His career was cut short when he was hit with a baseball at age 27 that left him blind in his left eye. After baseball, he was a successful roofing and construction manufacturing company executive in Albuquerque, NM. Tim’s path turned again following the premature deaths of his beloved Father and best friend from college. These events impacted him significantly and inspired and motivated him to help others dealing with death and grief. Tim chose the calling of ministry with his mission to serve God, to serve people, and to help facilitate getting through these difficult periods in life. Tim remained connected to his first love of Baseball as a host of a sports podcast, specializing in baseball, and most recently working with the Joliet Slammers baseball organization. Tim had a knack for details and stats and had an interesting story behind them all!
Tim is survived by his daughter, Laura (Mike) Frazier; brother, Thomas (Marc Gladstone) Haller Jr.; grandchildren, Emma and James Frazier; and many extended family members and close friends who consistently supported him, loved him deeply, and will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
