Obituary of Michael E. Belli, Sr.
Michael “Mickey” E. Belli, Sr., age 78, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Aperion Care in Wilmington. Michael was born July 19, 1943, in Memphis, TN to the late Albert Belli and Bertha Frazier, but it was his grandmother, Louise Gibson who raised him for the majority of his childhood. Michael lived in California for much of his life, going to school for nuclear engineering. However, he traveled the country for contracting work over the years, even spending time in Alaska, working for the North Slope Pipeline Project. He settled in Morris about 20 years ago, taking a position at the Dresden Power Plant.
Michael enjoyed building model ships and coin collecting. He was an avid reader and loved to travel. He was a wonderful father and proud Papa to his 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all.
Michael is survived by his children, Brenda Belli, Michele (Paul) Bristow, Michael E. Belli, Jr., Chris (Kelly) Belli, and Robert Belli; his grandchildren, Joseph (Sierra) Gleeson, Amanda (Dan) Charon, Sean Krebs, Gabriel Krebs, Heather Bristow, Christina Bristow, Stephanie (Joshua) Folker, Brandon (Elizabeth) Belli, Justin (Stephanie) Belli, Matthew Belli, Megan Belli, and Kayliana Belli; and 15 great-grandchildren and another due soon.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Belli; and grandson, Brady Charon.
All friends and relatives are invited to join in a celebration of Michael’s life which will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads in Joliet, IL beginning at 10:00 a.m. and concluding with services at 12:00 Noon. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
