Obituary of Nancy K. Broucek
Nancy K. Broucek, age 86, passed away on August 24th, 2022 at Mother Theresa Franciscan Village, Lemont, IL. She was born on April 16, 1936 in Chicago, IL to the late William and Dorothy (Von Almann) Sanders.
Nancy spent the majority of her youth as a resident of the Chicagoland area, and proudly held a Bachelors of Science degree in the field of education from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. While she only taught in a classroom for two years, she used her knowledge and skills to effectively manage a number of different offices, most notably as the Director of Office Procedures/Transportation for the Senior Services Center of Will County for more than twenty years. Nancy served her faith community as an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Joliet.
She was always an active community volunteer. One of the most notable, she was the Entry Chairman for the Joliet Community Swim Association Dr. Pepper Meets. Most recently with Foster Grandparents Advisory Council, Joliet/Will Co. Project Pride, Joliet Mayor’s Committee for Citizens with Disabilities, Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Support Committee, and Silver Cross Hospital Community Trustees. She was called “Lady Patriot” in a news article for her activism and support in Project Pride Hall of Pride- Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
She is survived by her children, Lisa (the late Robert “Matty”) Mattson, Stephen (Claudia) Broucek, and Mark (Bridget) Broucek; and her grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas, and Jason Broucek.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 37 years, Robert L. Broucek, who passed away April 15, 1995.
