Obituary of Mitchell J. Niziolek
Mitchell J. Niziolek, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Shorewood on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Mitch was born in Chicago on July 2, 1937 to the late Mitchell C. and Josephine Niziolek, and he spent the majority of his life living in Cicero before he settled in Shorewood in 2002. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. Mitch worked as a trucker, but most would know him as the owner of the Sand Dollar Tavern in Cicero.
Mitch is survived by his loving wife Carol (nee Korczynski/Lewinski) Niziolek; his stepchildren Jennifer Peterson and Jason (Angela) Lewinski; his daughter Becky Harrison; his grandchildren Amanda and Jessica Peterson, Marissa and Britney Lewinski, and Jason (Jennifer) and Casey French; his brother John (Elizabeth) Niziolek; sister-in-law Evee Libal Niziolek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Joseph and Stanley Niziolek.
Funeral services for Mitch Niziolek will be Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, Joliet with visitation starting at 4 p.m. and concluding with a prayer service at 8 p.m.
