Carol M. Hartley
(nee Zobel)
Age 74. At rest Monday, April 19, 2010 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Joliet, and a lifelong resident. Graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1953. Formerly employed by the Joliet Arsenal as a stenographer. Also a former medical assistant for Dr. Wherspann. An avid reader, crossword puzzle solver, and giver of her time, also loved to travel.
Survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert E. Hartley of Joliet; one daughter, Barbara (Dean) Cass of Shorewood; one brother, Alan (Carol) Zobel of Joliet; one sister, Evelyn "Lynn" (Dan) Hischier of Joliet; sister-in-law of Ronald Hartley of FL and Rosie (Don) Shotzberger of MS; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her son, Tim R. Hartley (1992); her parents, John and Agnes (nee Gorshe) Zobel; one brother, Gerald Zobel.
Carol's generous spirit continues in death as she has donated her remains to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois for the advancement of medical education.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, 706 N. Broadway, Joliet. The family will receive all friends and relatives at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice or Morningstar Mission would be appreciated. Arrangements by:
