Obituary of Mary M. Stacel
Mary M. Stacel, (nee Adams), age 78, of Joliet, IL passed away Saturday evening December 17, 2022 at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, with her loving family by her side.
Born September 20, 1944 in Denver, Colorado, she was the daughter of the late Emily (nee Shepich) and John Adams. She married the love of her life, David Stacel, and they enjoyed 38 beautiful years of marriage. She taught Dave what love truly is.
Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mom and gramma who was dedicated to taking care of her family and faithfully attending all her grandchildren’s activities without hesitation. She had a gentle and empathetic matter and could sense when someone was in need even without them asking. This intuitiveness led to her being a loyal and faithful friend to many. She was also generous with her time by being actively involved with the American Legion Post 1080 Ladies Auxiliary and volunteering in other activities. Mary also loved animals and shared her skills helping animals in many ways including pet sitting when needed. She will be remembered for her unselfishness and her beautiful smile.
She is survived by her husband, David Stacel; her four loving children, Heather (Jovan) Leary, Tara (Cal) Waldvogel, Craig (Kim) Leary and Sean Leary; two step-sons, Jason Stacel and Scott (Melanie) Stacel; five adoring grandchildren, Gibson and Colton Waldvogel, Jackson Leary, and Isabel and Emma Stacel; two sisters, Madelyn Adams and Sandra (Dave) Watts; special cousins, nieces and nephews; her best friend, Annie Russell; and all her loyal “Hen” friends.
Funeral services for Mary Stacel will be held Wednesday December 21, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Road, Joliet, and will be immediately followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
