Obituary of Robert Herbst

Robert J. Herbst "Bob" Age 89. At rest Monday, March 8, 2010 at Lakewood Living and Rehab Center. Born in Joliet to the late Albert and Irma (nee Yack) Herbst, he was a lifelong area resident. Graduate of Joliet Catholic High School. A WWII U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving in the Pacific. Retired from American Airlines in 1982. Member of the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and Cantigny Post VFW #367. Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Evelyn (nee Ward) Herbst of Joliet; three sons, Daniel of LaGrange, IL, Mick (Pauline) of Plainfield and Tim (Marcia) of Los Altos, CA; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene (Howard) Stangland of California; sister-in-law, Betty Herbst of Manhattan; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Charles, Raymond, James and John. Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville.
