Obituary of Judith A. Martin
Judith A. Martin of Joliet, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home on March 9, 2023 with her loving family by her side.
Born March 19, 1944, in Joliet, she was the daughter of Raymond A. and Mable (nee Waite) Kozian. She attended Joliet Central High School in 1962. Judy was a member of St. Patrick’s Church. She was the President of the PTA at Sheridan Elementary School for her boys. She was an active member for many years with the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She was employed for 12 ½ years at the Joliet American Legion, Post 1080 until her retirement. She developed a lot of great friendships and memories there. Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister , aunt, cousin and friend.
She is survived by her husband of 19 years Phillip R. Martin; her three loving sons, Robert A. (Michele) White, Kenneth J. (Dayna) White, and Daniel J. (Bobbie Jo) White; her grandchildren, Robert, Jr., Brian, and Samuel (Kristen) White, Heather, Corine, Kenneth, Jr., White, and step-grandchildren, Samantha Zinkiewicz, Brittany Fuller, and Kayla Zinkiewicz; her many great-grandchildren; her brother, Lawrence Kozian; brother-in-law, Terry Kaiser; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Judy was also blessed to have Phillips three children in her life, Julia (Jim) Angelopoulos, Phillip, Jr. (Wendy) Martin, and Roy (Angie) Martin, and their children and grandchildren. Judy was also survived by many, many friends. Judy will be missed by her beloved dog Merle.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandsons, Gavin and Samuel, Jr. White; mother and father; her sister, Diane R. Kaiser; special cousins, Marilyn Zembruski and Donna Blackwell, grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and her beloved dog Marley.
The family would like to thank Lightways Hospice for the care, compassion and kindness that they gave Judy and our family.
A Memorial Gathering for Judith A. Martin will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Judy’s name can be made to Joliet Township Animal Control or the American Cancer Society
