Sherri and family,
I was so sad to see Ron had passed away in the newspaper. I'll never forget the days at autumn when I worked and he would come in greeting everyone. Always had great stories and joked with everyone. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Love to all of you! Jo Oddo (RN at autumn country club)

I first spent time with my cousin Ron in my 20s when my brother Herm went to work for him. My first thought was "why didn't I know we had such a cool cousin" (he was 14 years older than me)? He was kind, empathetic, generous and loved being with people. Each year we took a road trip to Indy to visit my brother Herm for a Colts game. He did all the story telling and I did all the laughing. Some of the stories were heartwarming family history and the really funny ones were Ron history:-) As they say "if you know you know". We have adjacent tickets for the Bears, and Ron always brought some Stonitsch relatives (many of which I met for the first time with Ron and all of whom clearly loved him). He was a complete hoot to play with at a charity golf outing (where invariably we would tee off on a hole he had sponsored). He once found a ball I hit into the rough (one of many) and when I went to hit it I found it sitting pretty on a tee! He was also quite the clothes horse. My wife once commented how good looking and well dressed was. When I mentioned it to him he said "all Stonitsch men are good looking and dress well". I think I'll leave it at that :-) I love you Ronnie.

Ron was my first client. I remember working with him on several projects including hanger bldgs at Lewis Airport. After he retired, we became close friends and shared many a Friday happy hour at our favorite restaurant, Barolo! One year, I took him to the Taste Of Chicago with my kids and some of their friends. My kids loved hanging out with The Ronster!! They would always ask me how he was doing. We had a blast that day in Chicago!! I'll always remember "Ronbo" as a fun loving friend who enjoyed being in the company of other people. We always laughed and would always see someone we knew at Barolo, Truth, Syl's or wherever else we went. RIP Buddy! You will be missed by many!!!

The world lost an amazing man yesterday. He was not only my boss, but my friend, and even my family! Ron Stonitsch is a great part of the reason I am who I am today. He took a chance hiring me when I was still in my 20s even though "girls don't get the rocks out of their socks until they're 30" (whatever that means). He was generous beyond words and so kind and funny! There was never a charity golf outing that was denied a hole sponsorship, silent auction that didn’t elicit his bids, or raffle ticket that went unpurchased when Ron was asked. Monday mornings after charity events were among my favorite because it was always a surprise to see what he bought. He once won a tent rental and a clown performance because nobody else was bidding on it! But nothing topped the day we got a giant wooden crate marked FRAGILE delivered to the office. He opened it and climbed in (yep, just like in A Christmas Story), and found two bronze giraffes that he bought on a trip to Florida. I had fun dressing them up for each holiday even though he swears he doesn't remember buying them. In fact every day was an adventure. Has anyone else been tasked to call around to the local grocery stores to see which one has the freshest acorn squash? Been asked to get directions to somewhere. . . without turning left (because that takes too much time)? Gotten a call at 9:00 at night to go turn on their boss' electric blanket because his plane just landed and he wanted it to be warm when he crawled in? I did and I'd do it all again 1,000 times! The first Christmas I worked for him, he was so excited to bring in the tree. I was shocked to see a lopsided bush with about 5 good branches on it. One strand of lights and 6 or 7 ornaments were enough and it was perfect. His Christmas parties were legendary! EVERYONE was invited and they lasted until the early hours of the next day. He taught me how to properly cut a green pepper so as not to have to scrape out the seeds and made the best mushroom wild rice soup I ever had. He usually ate healthy, but always took a few fries from any lunch that was around. It's difficult for me to drink wine from anything except a McDonald's cup. When I met a guy and my friend told him that I had season tickets to the Chicago Bears games (they were not mine - they were Ron's), I felt guilty asking if I could use them that weekend. Ron said he was planning to go to the game, but asked if I thought the guy would like to go to the Sisters of St. Mary Immaculate Annual Fall Brunch which he also had tickets for. Uh. . . not really. Ron gave me his tickets and bought more tickets for himself so he could go to the game as well. Who does that!?! Ron did, and without hesitation. We had so much fun going to Bears Family Fest for several years even after I no longer worked for him. More than once, I've been places I never thought I would be (and probably shouldn't be) because Ron said "act like you belong and keep walking." When we'd deliver a cranberry bread to him the day after Thanksgiving, he'd let - and even encourage - my kids jump on his bed and he'd laugh. On his 75th birthday, we went to his house to decorate with balloons and streamers as a surprise. He walked in the door, saw the stuff, and yelled "Jeffrey - what the F**K is all this stuff? What's going on here?" When he turned the corner and saw me and my kids, his whole demeanor changed and he sweetly said "Honey. . . what are you doing here?" As sad as I am that he is no longer here, I know I'll hear that again when I meet him in heaven. I smile when I think about him walking through the pearly gates, going straight up to Jesus, and asking Him to do that water into wine trick. I'm confident that was his favorite miracle. Love you, Ron!
