Obituary of Joan C. Hinch

Joan C. Hinch, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday March 31, 2023 at 1:18 p.m. Born in Joliet on August 17, 1938 to the late Edward and Irene (nee Lakatos) Krauss, she was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Joliet Central High School. Joan went to beauty school and became a hairstylist and taught at Ricky’s Beauty School in Joliet.  She also worked for over 30 years for Joliet Junior College, retiring in 2002. 

Joan had many hobbies such as: knitting, sewing, quilting, ceramics, and gardening.  She also loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.  She looked forward to her trips to Florida to watch the Nascar Races.

Joan is survived by her husband of 50 years, Andrew L. Hinch, Jr.; her children, Synthia (Richard) Rodriguez, Daniel Andrew (Mariah) Hinch, Marcella (Dennis) Ng, and Anna Joyce Cece;  grandchildren, R.J., Anastasia, Andre, Ellyana, Jade, Andrew, Gabriella, Antonio, Lucia, Norman, and Brandy; great grandchildren, Davon, Dominic, Alyssa, Luke, Lucy, David, James, and Ezra; numerous great-great grandchildren; nieces Valerie Turpin and Terri Krauss; and nephews, Paul Ostoich, Edward Krauss, and Jorge Sanchez. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughters, Sonda Lee and Jacqueline Guardiscione; her brother, Edward Krauss; and her sister, Grace Ostoich.

Joan's family would like to give their thanks to the staff at Lightways Hospice for the kind and professional care they gave during this difficult time.

Visitation for Joan C. Hinch will be Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black(at Essington) Rd., Joliet. Funeral services will be Friday, April 7, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
