Obituary of James F. Hischier
James F. Hischier, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Joliet on Monday, April 17, 2023. Born on October 6, 1936 in Joliet to the late Joseph and Lillian Hischier, he was a lifelong area resident. Jim worked as Plant Superintendent for Stone Containers in Channahon for over 40 years. He was a longtime parishioner at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, serving as an usher and Eucharistic minister. Following retirement, Jim was an avid golfer, and he and his wife enjoyed spending their winters in Orange Beach, Alabama.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Darlyne (nee Cleveland) Hischier; his children, sons Jeff (Pam) Hischier and the late Kurt Hischier; and daughter Susan (James) Hornichak; his grandchildren, Stephanie (Craig) Hawes, Staci (Andy) Henderson, Michael Hischier, Christian Hischier, Jimmy Hornichak, and Jonathan Hornichak; great-granddaughter, Sienna Hawes; his brothers, Dan (Lynn) Hischier, Paul (June) Hischier, and the late Joseph Hischier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for James F. Hischier will be Friday, April 21, 2023 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rd., Joliet, then proceeding to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to take place at 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
