Obituary of Raymond R. Lukanc

Raymond R. Lukanc, age 93, passed away at his home in North Carolina on Monday, April 17, 2023. Raymond was born in Rockdale, IL, on October 20, 1929, the son of the late Frank and Frances (nee Finc) Lukanc. He was a long-time resident of Rockdale and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School, Class of 1948. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea during 1951-1952. Raymond was a former Village of Rockdale Trustee for eight years, a member of Rockdale Grade School Board, Executive Board of Cement Mason’s Union and a retired member of Local #161. He was a former longtime employee of Modern Builders Inc.

Raymond is survived by one son, Raymond, Jr. (Mary) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; his grandson Patrick (Adrienne) Connaghan; granddaughter Megan Connaghan, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia (Patty) (nee Standford); his parents; two sisters, Frances (late Jim) Ostrem and Jospehine (Ralph) Dixon; one infant sister, Julia Ann; and one brother, Fred (late Josephine).

At his request, cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with full military honors held under the auspices of the United States Army and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad on Friday, September 29th, 2023 at 12:30 p.m.
