Ronald Allen Tomczak
Ronald Allen Tomczak, passed away peacefully at the age of 74, on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Lightways Hospice, surrounded by the love of his family. Ron was born in Chicago, IL, on January 25, 1949, the son of the late Richard and Dorothy (nee Vitous) Dach Sr. He graduated from Joliet West High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Lewis University. Ronald is a veteran of the United States Army. He worked for Ameritech for 27 years, then retired from Lewis University after 17 years working in telecommunications.
In his free time, he enjoyed camping, bike riding, traveling, and spending time with his family. He also formerly coached basketball at St. Joseph Catholic Grade School. Ron truly cherished his time with his Lakepoint family, especially his special friend Kathy Krotz.
Ronald is survived by his son, Robert (Desiree) Tomczak; daughter, Karen (Jason) Craig; grandchildren, Heather Fischer, Ashley Fischer, Taylor Tomczak, Mason Craig, and Katie Craig; one great-grandchild, Sophia Parra; and his siblings, Dorothy Kulpa, Richard (Peggy) Dach Jr., Mary Dach, John (Pam) Dach, Michael Dach, Mark (Linda) Dach, and Carol Dach. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
He is preceded by his loving wife of 38 years, Catherine (Cathy with a “C”) (nee Gallagher) Tomczak; and his parents.
Visitation for Ronald Allen Tomczak will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park with military honors held under the auspices of the United States Army.
