Obituary of Daniel J. Ferguson
Daniel J. Ferguson
Age 50, of Chicago and Peotone, IL, passed from this life due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident in London, KY, Friday May 19, 2023.
Dan was born December 8, 1972 to Mary (McLean) and the late Charles Ferguson in Evergreen Park, IL. He was raised in Minooka, IL, attending Minooka Grade Schools and graduating with the class of 1991 from Joliet Catholic Academy.
He is survived by his family, his loving mother, Mary (nee McLean) Ferguson; two sisters, Kelley (Jim) Baltz and Amy Reitz as well as his beloved fianceƩ, Laura Smajo. He is the fond uncle of Justin Beal, Samantha Giovengo, Christopher, Tatum and Madison Reitz; proud great-uncle of Bella and Kylee. Also surviving are his aunt Wanda Nagel and many cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Dan will be remembered fondly as a jovial, friendly individual despite enduring the loss of his father at a young age and suffering a cardiac event five years ago. We feel he came back from that health episode a stronger, better version of himself, with a new appreciation for life and all those important people in his. He went back to school earning another degree to serve as an Ultrasound tech to heal those ailing, his once compromised heart found a beautiful soul-mate in Laura and his devotion to his family and friends had visibly notched up substantially. Some may say this makes the accident even more tragic, but our hope is in our faith and we trust that if we are truly to meet again, Dan received a bear hug from his father Friday afternoon.
All friends and relatives are invited to join us in remembering Dan on Tuesday May 23, 2023 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.)
