Obituary of Marilyn V. Feehan
Marilyn V. Feehan passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. She entered eternity 30 days after the death of her beloved husband, Joe.
Marilyn was born June 30, 1932, the 4th daughter of Joe and Mary (Likovic) Vogrin. A lifelong Joliet resident, Marilyn attended St. John the Baptist and St. Francis Academy. She and Joe were married in 1955 at St. John the Baptist.
Marilyn enjoyed playing the piano, singing with her "perfect pitch," crossword puzzles, Scrabble and vacationing in Wisconsin's Northwoods, but nothing brought her more laughter and bliss than time spent with her grandchildren. She spent countless hours with each of them, playing make-believe, counting baskets, dominating at thousands of games of Liar or Scrabble, and regaling her granddaughters with true-life tales directly from the pages of her teenage diaries. Her love for her children and grandchildren knew no bounds and she leaves us missing her enthusiasm for the smallest moments in our every-day lives.
Marilyn is survived by her loving children, Sally (Joe) Mordente, Joe Feehan, Gary Feehan, Paul (Donna) Feehan, Pat (Patty) Feehan and Mike Feehan. She was the best Nana to Stephanie, Sam, Shea, Sarah (Aaron Schleisman), Ben, Mitch, Maddy, Olivia (also known as Phoebe!), Grace, Lilly and Jack Feehan and Gabriel Mordente. She is also survived by her sisters, Yvonne Callans and Barbara Haggerty; and brother, Joe Vogrin, as well as dozens of nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.
In addition to her husband, Joe, Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Rosemary Stephen, Helen Lambert, Marjie Eberhard, Jayne Vogrin and Dorothea Vogrin; brothers-in-law, George Eberhard, Dan Lambert, Dave Callans and Bob Haggerty. She was also preceded in death by Joe's brother, Tom Feehan and his wife, Beverly (Long) Feehan.
Marilyn's best and most fulfilling years were spent working at Stepping Stones, driving clients to appointments and encouraging them in their battles against addiction. Her down-to-earth approach, sense of humor, and sincere concern helped many people in need of a listening ear. Marilyn's family wants to thank especially the caring staff at Lightways Hospice and Pat Flores and Karen Lee who were such devoted and loving caregivers.
A Mass will be held in memory of and in gratitude for both Joe and Marilyn on Wednesday, June 28th, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary Nativity, 706 N. Broadway St., Joliet, IL, 60435.
