Gloria D. "Cookie" Maxwell
Age 88, of Minooka, IL, and formerly Thornton, IL, passed away at home on the morning of Friday, July 7, 2023.
Gloria was born December 16, 1934, to the late Eleanor (Dobies) and Henry Grzybowski in Harvey, IL, and was raised and educated in Harvey, a graduate with the class of 1952 from Thornton Township High School.
She married the love of her life, Donald C. Maxwell on June 20, 1953, and enjoyed 50 years of marriage until he passed in 2004.
She is the beloved mother of Diane C. (Martin) Cooper, Donald W. (Jill) Maxwell, Pamela A. (James) Tabler, and the late Anita Maxwell (1978); loving and devoted grandmother of Benjamin Cooper, Teresa (John) O'Grady; Kelsie Maxwell, Kaitlin Maxwell; Elizabeth (Andrew) Jackson, David (Danielle) Tabler and Rachael Click; proud great-grandmother of Sydney O'Grady, Annabel Click, Roderick Click and Lucas Jackson. Several cousins whom Gloria adored also survive.
Preceded in death by her husband and daughter.
Gloria will be remembered fondly as a woman of strong faith who really was all about family. She was a member of the CCW at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Minooka as well as an active supporter of the Annunciation Monastery of the Poor Clares, also in Minooka. Her hobbies included Golf, enjoying everything nature has to offer, feeding the birds, and a lively game of Bridge.
Visitation for Gloria will be Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 4-7 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 1201 W. Rt. 6 (at Deerpath Drive) in Morris. Funeral services are Friday morning July 14, 2023 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Minooka where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Minooka.
In lieu of flowers memorials in her name can be made to Annunciation Monastery of the Poor Clare Nuns, 6200 E. Minooka Rd., Minooka, IL 60447, or St. Mary's Catholic Church, 303 W. St. Mary's St., Minooka, IL 60447.
