Obituary of Paul Robert Baltz
Age 83, passed away Friday morning, October 6, 2023, at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois.
Paul was born June 2, 1940, in Joliet to the late Lydia (nee Peeling) and Paul Meade Baltz. He attended the Cathedral of St. Raymond grade school and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School. Paul received a bachelor degree from the University of Illinois and his master’s degree from Loyola University.
A retired educator, Paul was an English teacher at Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Palos Hills, IL for 30 gratifying years.
He is survived by his longtime close friend, Helen Kelley and her family; dearest brother of Nan (David) Clinton, Jim (Cetta) Baltz, Sally (Ed) Kowalski, Mary (Pat) Lenaghan, and sisters-in-law, Ginny Baltz and Marie-Pierre Baltz. Proud uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by several cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John and Joe Baltz as well as his nephew, Chris Clinton.
An avid baseball fan, Paul also enjoyed photography and completing the daily crossword puzzles in the New York Times, however, his greatest passion truly was assisting in the development of young minds and his relationships with those he loved. He was so proud of his family, and lately, very much aware and in awe of the endeavors of his great-nieces and nephews.
Be it through teaching, as a brother, uncle, friend or educator; Paul had a greater impact on lives than he ever realized.
He will be missed.
Paul’s family will forever be grateful to Edward Hospital, especially the 6th floor doctors, nurses and staff for their compassion, kindness and wonderful care.
A Memorial Gathering for Paul Baltz will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet.
As it was Paul’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded.
