Obituary of Rosemary Hombaker

Rosemary Mae Hombaker (nee Niesluchowski) "Rose" Age 68, of Wilmington, and formerly of Joliet, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. Born February 22, 1942 in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Albin and Katherine (Franco) Niesluchowski. She attended the Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, where she excelled in swimming and archery. Rose retired from the US Postal Service in Joliet, where she served as a clerk for 21 years and was one of the first employees at McDonough Street US Postal Service. She most enjoyed serving as an activist for senior citizens in the deaf community through the Center for Independent Living. She had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone. Surviving are her beloved husband of 48 years, William P. Hombaker; her two children, Nina J. (Scott) Rose and William Michael "Buddy" Hombaker; her siblings, Walter R. (Rita) Niesluchowski, Ruby K. (Jim) Downie, and Edward A. Niesluchowski; nieces and nephews, Walter N. (Dana) Niesluchowski, Jr., Mario (Mickey) Niesluchowski, William H. (Amy) Lievens, Brian M. (Bethany) Lievens, Heather B. Lievens, Barry Niesluchowski, Otto Niesluchowski, and Thor Niesluchowski; six grandchildren, Tabitha L. Boshears, Jessica Ragland, Dannelle Boshears, Jacqueline Rose Boshears, Christopher K. Rose, and Corey S. Rose; two great-grandchildren, Michael T. Smith and Keirsten Ragland; five great nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends who provided so much care and support, especially Pam Heavens, and Angela and Kendal Lamb. Funeral services for Rose Hombaker will be Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private. Memorials in her name to the family would be appreciated.
