Obituary of Judith L. Houlihan

Judith L. Houlihan, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 3, 2023. Judith was born in Chicago on June 12, 1940, and spent most of her life in the Chicago area before retiring to Romeoville. On October 22, 1960, she married Edward Houlihan, and the two celebrated 46 years of marriage before his passing in 2007. Judith and Edward enjoyed traveling and golfing together, and especially enjoyed their trips to Las Vegas.

Judith is survived by her sons, Michael Houlihan and Thomas (Jo Anne) Houlihan; her grandchildren, Brigit (Haley Kavanaugh) Houlihan, Sean (Kaitlyn Esper) Houlihan, and Kyle Houlihan; her brother John (Rose) Cease; sister-in-law, Bonnie Suess; and nieces, Charlene, Deborah, and Linda.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Houlihan, Sr.; her mother, Signe Suess; her sons, Edward J. Houlihan, Jr. and Steven Houlihan; and brother, Mike Suess.

All friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Judith’s life with a visitation at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rd., Joliet, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until time of services at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Lightways Hospice would be appreciated. Interment, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip where she will be laid to rest next to her husband and sons, will be private.
