Obituary of Terrence J. Carey

Terrence J. “Terry” Carey, age 61, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at home. 

Terry was born February 16, 1962 in Chicago, to Francis and Joan (Bridgman) Carey, and was a graduate of Carl Sandburg High School.  He worked as an electrician and was a proud member of IBEW Local #134.  

A was a loving and devoted husband and father who will be remembered for the quality time he spent with his family. 

Surviving are his beloved wife of 24 years, Laura (Murphy) Carey; two sons, Seamus and Liam; two brothers, Michael (Scott) Carey and Kevin (Theresa) Carey; one sister Shaun Carey; several nieces and nephews; and his wife’s father, Edmund Murphy. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Patrick and Brian; his sister, Lori; and his wife’s mother, Ellen Murphy. 

Visitation for Terry Carey will be held Monday, November 13, 2023, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral Home.  Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Alsip.
