Gerald J. Giglio

Age 82, of Morris, IL passed peacefully, early Friday morning, December 29, 2023, at Park Pointe Healthcare and Rehab Center.

He was born January 19, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Josephine and Michael Giglio.  He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a reservist for six years.  Gerald married Jolene Chase in Oak Lawn in 1964, eventually settling in Alsip, IL where they raised their family.

In addition to his beloved wife of 59 years, Jolene, Jerry is also survived by his son and daughters, Jodi (Jim) Cassan, Jill Giglio, Joseph (Sonya Golby) Giglio and Jina (Michael) Roberson; grandchildren, Brittany Cassan, Melissa Giglio (Larry Traylor), Nicholas Capers, Alexis Capers, Isadore Gee, Sean Ford, Dylon Golby, Daelynn Golby, Adrian Willert, Brayden Willert, Tyler Zelinski, Mason Roberson, Connor Zelinski and Mackenzie Zelinski; great-grandchildren, Larry Traylor, Jr., and Addison Traylor. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Michael "Mickey" Giglio.

In his younger years, Jerry enjoyed playing baseball, softball, and football, as well as bowling and golf.  Lately, he thoroughly enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, school activities, and competitions. 

As it was Gerald's wish, cremation rites have been accorded and his final earthly remains will be interred at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL, at a later date.

Please join us on Friday, January 19, 2024, which would’ve been Jerry’s 83th birthday, from 6-9 p.m. at Wesmere Country Club, 2101 Wesmere Country Club Parkway, Plainfield, IL 60586.  We will celebrate his life sharing memories, some of his favorite foods and beverages. 

In lieu of flowers memorials in his name can be made to the Special Olympics or any organization supporting Veterans.
