May she rest in peace.
And our hearts go out to Sarah and Grant. She was aa Strong and Beautiful Lady.
She loved her family immensely. To say she was funny is an understatement .
She welcome our family when we moved to Shorewood with open arms and within days it was if we were long time friends.
Our Love and condolences to all that loved her

To Karen's family: I am so sad to hear of dear Karen's passing. What a kind soul! Used to play in the yard with my friend Jeff who lived 3 doors down and occasionally Karen would join in. She was so nice and fun to be around. I worked with her mom LeEtta at Mark Shale and sometimes saw Karen, and we'd pick up like it was yesterday. I remember as a kid she gave me my first kiss....such a dear dear person. You will be missed dear Karen!! Thank you for the great memories!! - David Paul

I am so saddened to hear of Karen’s passing. What a beautiful tribute in her obituary.
I will always remember fondly a group trip to Hawaii in 1979 that my mom organized for JJC when I met Karen. We spent time having fun on the beaches and also tried to pass ourselves off as 16 yr olds to some cute boys we met.
I had the chance to talk to her and laugh about that very memory a few years back during a long and very pleasant phone conversation with her, also catching up on her life in NC. She shared her immense passion for horses and how much joy they brought her.
I’ll cherish that last conversation and smile at the outgoing and fun personality she brought to so many people’s lives.
Prayers to her family at this difficult time.

I remember Karen from high school and was so fortunate to get to know her best when our sons became friends in high school. She was such a giving person and her love for Jim Sarah and Grant was so evident and abundant. She graciously and bravely took 5 18 year old boys on a surfing trip to the outer banks that was a trip if a life time for my son. I'm sure the memories they will share about that trip and the many fun times at the Diedrich family home would be a shocker! The parties she hosted and the beautiful home they had were a reflection of her beauty. This is just so sad. I will never forget when she called me when Jim died. Life just isn't fair sometimes. But I have no doubt they will have a fabulous Valentines together in heaven. RIP dear friend.
