Obituary of Ronald A. Viano
Ronald A. Viano, passed away at the age of 79, on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Lightways Hospice Home, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on June 1, 1944, the son of the late Joseph and Katherine (nee Sorem) Viano.
Ronald retired from Johns Manville in Rockdale after 46 years of service. He enjoyed playing the slot machines at the casinos, and the occasional trip to Las Vegas. Ron had a great passion and love for learning the history of the I & M Canal, where he knew where all the locks and dams were located. He enjoyed many walks along the canal with his wife, Gloria.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Gloria; his daughters, Chandra (Takashi) Hatakeyama, and Kathlene ( David) Dunham; stepchildren, Jennifer (Norbert) Holzinger, and Christopher (Becky) Webster; grandchildren, Raelynn, Jessica, Justice, Scott, and Marina; brother, Joseph (Carol) Viano, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Gladys Stalker.
A Memorial Visitation for Ronald Viano will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet.
