Obituary of Timothy James McDonald
Timothy James McDonald, 65, of rural Verona, IL, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer. Tim was born on January 28, 1959, to John and Dee (Dolinshek) McDonald in Channahon, IL.
After Tim finished high school and college, he worked for a local grain elevator. It was there that he met the love of his life, Cindy (Henne). Together they pursued their dream of farming. Over the years, they grew the farm to leave a legacy for future generations. Despite his illness, he farmed until the very end, harvesting his 39th crop last fall. In addition to farming with his family, he enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, traveling with his friends, and conversing with numerous people who stopped by to visit him at the shop. Tim was constantly busy improving the land, tending to his garden, and working on farm equipment. He was especially fond of his John Deere 4020 tractors, one of which he recently restored.
Tim is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Cindy; his three children, Tim (Rhea Ann) McDonald of Mazon, Melissa (Adam) Bell of Covington, IN, and Joel (Kelly) McDonald of Verona; ”Papa Tim” was adored by his grandchildren, Emma and June McDonald, Bowen and Blakeley Bell, and Gavin and Tag McDonald. Also surviving are his siblings, Terry (Beth) McDonald, Mary Kay (Mike) Theis, and Tom (Donna) McDonald, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tim was a deeply loved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle, and friend. His witty comebacks, wise advice, and unmistakable laugh will be missed by many. His work ethic, perseverance, and positive attitude are inspirations for all.
A memorial visitation for Tim will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive in Morris.
