Wilma Haines

Obituary of Wilma June Haines

Late of Crest Hill and born on May 10, 1929 on a country farm in Perry County, IL, to the late Oscar and Mary Moore.  June worked hard on the farm and later at a sewing factory, until she met the love of her life, Bob Haines.  They were married almost 50 years before his passing in 1998.  They had 2 sons, Robert Haines of Crest Hill and Gary (Lisa) Haines of Joliet.  They were also the proud grandparents to Sara Haines of Colorado Springs, CO and Josh Haines of Joliet.

Through the years June worked at Curtis Avenue Baptist Church, where she and her husband prepared fish dinners for the church.  June also volunteered on the Sunday school bus as a chaperon for the children. Her favorite pastime was being a grandma.  She attended many recitals, sports events and school activities over the years; to taking her grandchildren to story time at the library and picnics in the park.  June was a Christian woman and later joined Friendship Baptist church in Plainfield.  There she attended regular services and bible study.  She was a great friend to all she met and especially enjoyed her gatherings and lunch with her lady friends from church. June also worked for many years at the Crest Hill Public Library.

June is survived by her sons and grandchildren; her sisters, Juanita (late Steve) Chamness, Janet (Jerry) Walker and Linda (Buddy) Fox.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; brothers, Earl (Kathryn) Moore and Harley (Tomi) Moore; sisters, Irene (Jack) Morgan, Bess (Wilbur) Offerman, Margie (Bob) Johnson and Roberta (Clarence) Graeff; sisters-in-law, Betty Haines and Grace Haines; brother-in-law, Frank Haines; and in-laws, Maude and Ace Haines.

All who knew June loved her smile and warm disposition.  She was an amazing baker of pies! She will be greatly missed.
