Obituary of James L. Conley
James L. Conley, Jr. passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the age of 58 after a courageous battle with cancer at home with the love of his family by his side. Jim was born on September 14, 1965, in Joliet, IL to Marilyn (Stambaugh) Conley and the late James L. Conley, Sr. He was a graduate of Joliet West High School, Class of 1983. After graduation, Jim served proudly in the United States Navy. Following his service, Jim began work with Waste Management where he worked for over 30 years. He was a member of the Suburban Teamsters Local 179.
From a young age, he was involved in motorcycles and cars. He started riding on the back of his dad’s motorcycle at an early age and eventually upgraded to his own. From there he would go on to take many bike trips with his dad and other family and friends. When he wasn’t on two wheels, you could find him in a hot rod.
On August 23, 2003, he married Tamra Parks. They spent their years together raising five children and most recently celebrated 20 years of marriage. Jim was madly in love with his wife and incredibly proud of his children.
Jim was a tinkerer and spent many weekends working in the garage on various projects with the company of family and friends. He enjoyed racing in his free time, both spectating and participating. He was a member of the Martucky Motor Club and America’s 1320s, which supported his love for nostalgia drag racing.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Tamra Conley; his children, Alicia (CJ) Janovyak, Hayley Conley, Savannah Conley, Madison Conley, and Lucas Conley; his mother, Marilyn Conley; his sisters, Trisha Conley and Candy (Jeff) Jennings; his brother, Brian Conley; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and many good friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, James L. Conley, Sr.
As it was Jim’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded, and a Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 (at Deerpath Drive), Morris, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. when he will receive Military Honors conducted by the United States Navy.
