J. T. Moyers
J. T. Moyers, passed away at the age of 91, on Sunday, March 17, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. J.T. was born on August 22, 1932, in Howell, TN, the son of late Clarence George and Ruby (Handback) Moyers. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army attaining the rank of Sergeant. J.T. retired from PPG Inc., after more than 25 dedicated years as a Maintenance Supervisor. He also was a general contractor in the construction trades for many years.
An avid hunter and fisherman, J. T. was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered for all he did for his family.
J.T. is survived by his three children, Cathy (Robert) Johnson, Clarence (Janet) Moyers and Alan Moyers; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Clara (the late Abe) Van Silliman and Ruby (the late James) Echols.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bobbie Jean (nee Hutson) Moyers; his parents; and five brothers and sisters, Dan, Clarence, William, Naomi, Marjorie, and Maryanna.
Funeral Services for J.T. Moyers will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded under the auspices of the United States Army and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials requested to the family for a charity of the donor’s choice.
