Obituary of Sandra Jean MacDowell

Sandra Jean MacDowell, passed away at the age of 77, on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at St. Joseph Medical Center.  Sandee was born in Joliet, IL, on May 9, 1946, the daughter of the late Raymond and Leona (nee Slabozewski) Davidson.  She grew up in Crest Hill and was a graduate of St. Francis Academy.  After graduation Sandee furthered her education and graduated from beauty school, owning and operating a beauty shop for many years after. She retired from Shorewood Family Dental after 15 plus years as the Manager of the Insurance Department.

Sandee was a social woman who loved spending time with her family and friends. She had many friend groups and enjoyed monthly Club and Girls Dinner Club.

She enjoyed traveling the globe, often taking trips abroad with her husband and friends. Her favorite trips were to Glacier National Park with The Dusty Beavers and to Ireland with close friends.

Sandee is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Charles Edward MacDowell; her children, Scott (Jennifer) MacDowell and Debi (Scott) Lockwood; grandchildren, Ryan MacDowell, Caitlyn St. Marie, Rachel, MacDowell, Nolan MacDowell, Cameron Lockwood, Nathan Lockwood, and Kennedi MacDowell; and her sisters, Janet Lane and Lynn (Jim) Smolich. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends also survive.

She is preceded by her parents; and her granddaughter, Gabriella Bennett.

A Celebration of Life for Sandra Jean MacDowell will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at McWethy’s Tavern, 1700 West Renwick Road, Romeoville from 4 to 7 p.m. As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
