It's because of you I love jazz today! I was listening to the radio not so long ago and a song came on and I said to myself, "Tommy played that at F.E.Marsh".You were always a few steps ahead, definitely a leader. From one Joliet Raider to another, Rest In Peace my friend. Prayers and Blessings to the family.

Tom was a great person and would always say hello when I saw him at one of the school buildings when I worked for the district. I also have an autographed copy of one of his books, something about cows and cheese. Sad for the families loss.

Tom, you are a strong man. You were loved and admired. You have left a legacy in the Joliet and Plainfield areas. You fought a hard fight. Tom, you stayed as long as you could. Now, RIP on the other side. God Bless you Tom!

It was a toss up between Prince purple and Cabernet red so I went with what I know you would love and appreciate. This all seems like a bad dream or one of those bad Tom Dad Jokes. Life will never and I mean never be the same with you no longer here by our side. A hot tub is no longer a hot tub without my hot tub buddy. Those were some of the greatest moments of my life when we were hanging out. A glass of whiskey and 25 below with the wind chill never stopped Tommy and 2 chains and his side kick Jay 2 Chains. We love you so much brother. Clean things up over there in heaven and feel free to leave the world a famous Tom Hernandez important message. So much love, Jay and Debbi

My condolences to all of Tom’s family. I met him on my first day as a transfer student midway thru 4th grade at F.E. Marsh and we pretty much had every class including homeroom together thru 8th grade at Gompers. He will always be a staple in the memories of my childhood. I will always remember him playing the Sax and his ridiculously funny impressions of Steve Martin. We hadn’t spoken in years, but we connected last year and he sent me his latest book. I wish him peace and eternal rest. He was one of the good ones.
