Obituary of Laura Colleen Buhay
Laura Colleen (Hall) Buhay
Laura Colleen Buhay, age 49, passed away peacefully at her home in Plainfield, on Friday, April 12, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Laura was born in Joliet on September 16, 1974, the daughter of Lowell and Geraldine (Kennedy) Hall.
Laura ran an at-home daycare for 26 years and poured her heart into all the children she cared for. She had a heart of gold and flourished when she was caring for others. Laura was passionate about watching life grow, whether it was the children she cared for or the flowers in her garden. Buhay means “life” and she honored that name every day since it became hers. She loved cooking for those she loved, trips to Disney or the beach, and spending time with her dog, Wrigley. Laura was everyone’s go-to when honest, whole-hearted advice was needed. There was never a time Laura didn’t have the right words to say.
Laura is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Joe; son, Joey; daughter, Abigayle; her parents, Lowell and Geraldine (Kennedy) Hall; three siblings, Lowell (Christina) Hall, Kristen (Matthew) Vogt, and Melissa (Mark) Bradley; her husband’s parents, Ricardo and Araceli Buhay; her brothers and sister-in-law, Chrissy (Anthony) Chin, Richard (Ghia) Buhay, and Robert Buhay; and her nieces and nephews, Jacob and Emma Hall, Mia, Ella and Zach Bradley, Lucas, Sophie, and Benny Vogt, Aidan and Elena Buhay, and Noah and Ian Chin. Several cousins and dear friends also survive.
She is preceded by her beloved nephew, Nathan Chin, and grandparents, Lowell and Ruth (Condon) Hall and David and Sylvia (Deckard) Kennedy.
