Obituary of Leo S. Tibbitts
Leo S. Tibbitts, age 78, of Joliet, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024 at Sunnyhill Nursing Home, with his loving family by his side.
Born July 11, 1945 in Charles City, IA, he was the son of the late Vernon R. and Irene M. (Schultz) Tibbitts, and was a graduate of Lockport Central High School. Leo worked for the former Sears store as a hardware salesman, Joliet Window Cleaning, and retired from the City of Joliet.
Leo was a loving and devoted husband and was like a son and brother to his wife’s large family. He was also a devoted uncle and Godfather to his many nieces and nephews. He loved playing euchre, country music, the Chicago Cubs, and never missed a family event. Always ready to help people, he was generous with his time and talents. He will be remembered for his fun sense of humor and being a joker.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Irene; one sister, Sandra (Chuck) Stanbro; and his brothers, James J. "Jimmy" Tibbitts, Harry E. Tibbitts and Ralph Tibbitts.
Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Anna (nee Salazar) Tibbitts of Joliet; many dear nieces and nephews; and his wife’s brothers and sisters, Lupe Hernandez, Zeke Salazar, Juan (Toni) Salazar, Nacho (Maria) Salazar, Tony Mejia, and Rosie (Jaime) Guajardo.
Leo’s family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the staff of Lightways Hospice, especially Greta, and the staff of Sunnyhill Nursing Home.
