Obituary of Peter Hylka
Peter T. Hylka
Age 72, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. Born November 17, 1937 in Joliet, and a lifelong resident.
Peter was a graduate of St. Mary Carmelite School and Joliet Catholic High School, and attended Joliet Junior College and Lewis University. He served four years with the United States Army, stationed at Fort Hood, TX and Fort Carson, CO. He served 20 years with US Steel in Joliet, and 24 years with the Will County Court House as a bailiff.
He was an active member of the former St. Mary Carmelite Church serving on the Shepherds Table, Phoenix Club, and as an extraordinary minister and usher. He was also a member, extraordinary minister and usher for St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Peter was also an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 46 years, Donna R. (nee Lorek) Hylka; two sons, Steve (Amy) of Batavia, and Jeremy of Joliet; four grandsons, Justin, Nick, Zachary, and Wesley; one brother, Richard (Rosemary) Hylka of Joliet; one sister, Phyllis (Ron) Fox of Sheridan, IN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Peter J. and Ann (nee Denewellis) Hylka.
Funeral services for Peter T. Hylka will be Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials to Autism Speaks, 2 Park Avenue, 11th Floor, New York, NY 10016 would be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday, from 2-8 p.m. at:
