Obituary of Errol Javier Arzate
Errol J. Arzate
Age 62, of Joliet, Illinois passed suddenly from this life Thursday, May 30, 2024. He was born on December 23, 1961 to the late Hope Tamayo and George Arzate in Joliet where he was raised and educated, a graduate with the class of 1980 from Joliet Central High School. Errol attended Joliet Junior College before he was hired by Com Ed in the early 1980’s.
He is the beloved husband for 38 years to Kimberly (nee Plese) Arzate; loving father Brandon Arzate and Lauren (Matt MacDonald) Arzate and; proud grandfather of Charlie; dear son in-law of Mabel Plese. Also surviving are sisters, Corrine Arzate and Vanessa (Joe) Mendez and brother, Frank (Diane) Arzate as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers, and father-in-law, John Plese.
Errol retired from Exelon in January of 2019. He worked at the Braidwood Nuclear station where he enjoyed his career and his co-workers. He loved the Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox. On a trip to Boston to see the Red Sox play, he won one of their World Series Rings. A yearly trip was made to Universal Orlando with his family, where they would always wait to hear him to say, “You can hang meat in here….” every time he would enter the cold Men In Black ride. He enjoyed his cats- Raven, Wolverine, and Doc, keeping up with the news, and completing the Tribune’s crossword puzzle.
Errol was a great listener- a man of few words that people would gravitate towards. He had so many friends at Tom Kelly’s Restaurant and liked to keep up with guys from work. He cherished his time with Lauren, listening to Natalie Merchant. He treasured the memories with Brandon, as they shared drinks at Margaritaville. Of course, he loved and truly appreciated all the years and special times he shared with Kimberly.
A visitation for Errol will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the prayer service at 3:30 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded.
