Obituary of Thomas E. Peet, Sr.

Thomas E. Peet, Sr., age 79, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Rock Run Place, with his family by his side.

Born July 16, 1944 in Joliet, he was the son of the late Clarence Oliver Peet and Eunice Lorraine (Frost) Ullian. Tom began his working life at the former Joliet Arsenal before joining Painters Local #33, where he made many lifelong friendships and retired after many years of service as a proud union member.

Tom was an avid outdoorsman who also enjoyed music and art. He loved wintering in South Padre Island, TX, and listening to Jimmy Buffett's music. He was proud of the distinction of being the first father in Will County to be awarded full custody of his children.

Surviving are his children, Tammy Ivec and Thomas E. Peet, Jr., both of Crest Hill, and Christine (William) Hake of Williamsburg, MO; seven grandchildren, Angela, Marty, Brandy, Cassandra, Jessie, Dustin and Kristopher; two great granddaughters Kaydance and Vyla; and his sister, Yvonne Chudy of Channahon.

He was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Peet; his parents; one brother, Clarence Peet; and one sister, Donna Jean Dunbar.

Funeral services for Thomas Peet, Sr., will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet.  Visitation will follow from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.  Cremation rites will be accorded following services and interment will be private.
