I chose purple because it was so rare and valuable (like Terri) after it was first discovered and became the symbol of royalty. And it was also one of Terri's most favorite colors. The most important thing Terri and I shared is our Catholic Faith.
In lighting a candle we partake in the powerful life-giving force of Jesus’ words (John 8:12):
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
And we are asking that our prayers rise up to heaven and that Our Blessed Mother may always intercede for us before our Savior, Jesus.

Karl, please know you're especially close in heart during this time of great suffering. And all your and Terri's cherished ones who love you both will be in my prayers. Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." And Psalm 147:3 "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." God bless and keep you in His perfect peace. Love you my friend.

To my dear Terri - In my humanity, I am so profoundly sad that our time for friendship in this life has come to an end. And it is heart wrenching that I could not say goodbye. It is difficult that I am never going to look down and see that you are calling. I want you to know I have such fond memories of how our friendship began, the time we shared together in our amazing friendship in Chicago, all of the escapades we went on together working at Butcher's Choice in Romeoville, the laughter and tears, the heartfelt talks, the dogs on that fateful dog day (lol!!), your "everything is always going to be fine" casualness that brought me balance, your words of encouragement and "just how we rolled." And, there are countless other funny and sobering memories I keep in my heart. I am so glad our paths crossed for the time they did. Thanks be to God we both love Jesus. I take great comfort in knowing you have already met Him face to face. Philippians 1:3 "I thank my God every time I remember you." That's for me. Revelation 21:4 "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away." That's for you. I am so grateful for my faith in God because it is our faith that helps us believe and understand we always have the hope of seeing our loved ones again. "Eternal rest grant unto Terri, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May Terri and all the souls of the faithful who have departed rest in peace." Amen. I love you and will never forget you my dear friend.
