Gerald Dean Negoski
Gerald Dean Negoski, of Joliet, passed away at the age of 78, on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Manteno. Jerry was born in Chicago, IL on April 3, 1946, the son of the late Leo and Maria (nee Gawrych) Negoski. He was a graduate of Joliet Central High School. After graduation, Jerry answered the call of duty and enlisted in the United States Navy. During his 25 dedicated years, Jerry earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation, Sixth Good Conduct Award for Period ending 92Apr05, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation, and a Surface Warfare Insignia. After retiring from the Navy, Jerry spent 12 years with the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier.
In his free time, Jerry was an avid bowler, and always took advantage of any time he had to spend with his grandkids.
Jerry is survived by his son, Jerry (Charlene) Negoski; daughter, Megan Negoski; five grandchildren, Edward Hecht, Elizabeth Negoski, Kaylah and Leyla Howard, and Emily Negoski; and his siblings, Valeria Land, Carol (Nolan) Borkowski, Johnny (the late Linda) Negoski, and James (Barb) Negoski. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, also survive.
He is preceded by his loving wife, Judy Marie Negoski; his parents; and his siblings, Leo Paul Negoski, Mary Williams, Joanie Bertolotti, and Anna Brooks.
Visitation for Gerald Dean Negoski will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with full military honors held under the auspice of the United States Navy and Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad.
