Obituary of Helen H. Stewart
Age 96 of Joliet, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home. Helen was born and raised in Joliet. She was formerly employed by Weber's Dairy where she had met her late husband, William J. Stewart, Jr. Together, they owned and operated Stu's Snack Bar at Derald's Flea Market in Joliet for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet.
Surviving are her two sons, William J. (Catherine) Stewart, III of Wesley Chapel, FL, and Robert A. (Bettie) Stewart of Crest Hill; grandchildren, Peggy A. (Kevin) Hoffman, Dawn M. (Rex) Layne, Jennifer (Gary) Browell, William J. (Kelly) Stewart IV, Renee S. Maly (Al), Robert A. Stewart, Jr., Kyle R. Stewart (Stephanie) and Christopher T. Stewart (Skye); 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and another on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, William J. Stewart, Jr. (2014); her parents, William and Anna (nee Beysteiner) Haake; her great-granddaughter, Lillith Renee Stewart; 4 sisters; and 7 brothers.
Visitation for Helen H. Stewart will be Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 3-6 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rd., Joliet. Funeral services will be the following day, Monday, September 16 with visitation from 9-10 a.m., then procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N. Chicago Street, Joliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
