Donald J. Blottiaux
Donald J. Blottiaux, passed away at the age of 76, on October 6, 2024 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. He was born in Joliet, IL on November 14, 1947, the son of the late Leo and Eleanor (nee Hulbert) Blottiaux. He grew up in Channahon and was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School. Don was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Caterpillar after 33 dedicated years. It was during his retirement that he enjoyed his “bonus career” building custom motorcycles.
Don had a gift for wood carving and leatherwork and always enjoyed the open road on his motorcycle. He was proud of many things in his life, including being a Founding member of the New Attitudes Motorcycle Club, and a 1%er of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club. He was “patched” in 2008. Don took several trips across the states over the years attending parties with his Outlaws brothers. He was proudly sober for the last 49 years.
Don is survived by his son, William (Rhonda) Blottiaux; daughter, Sally (fiancé, Tim Larson) Blottiaux; grandchildren, Christopher Gunty, Matthew Gunty, Anastasia (fiancé, Tyler Spencer) Blottiaux, and Lenora (fiancé Austin Nickles) Blottiaux; great-granddaughter, Ellie Lea Spencer; his siblings, Tom (Linda) Blottiaux, Denise (Rick) Tonkovic, and Cynthia Blottiaux; and his faithful canine companion, “Larry”. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and Club Brothers also survive.
He is preceded by his wife, Lea Marlene (nee Black) Blottiaux; his parents; and his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Kathleen and Joe Chesko.
Visitation for Donald J. Blottiaux will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following services.
Family and friends will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, October 14, at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home for procession to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery for an inurnment with full military honors held under the auspices of the United States Navy, the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad, and the Illinois Patriot Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Will County Humane Society, 24109 W. Siel Rd., Shorewood, IL 60404.
