Obituary of Arthur Jahnke
Jahnke, Arthur R.
Age 88, passed away at home on Thursday, November 15, 2012. Born in Joliet on May 9, 1924, he was a lifelong area resident. Art was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School, Class of 1942, and was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He retired from Schiek Motor Express after 40 years of service.
The family's most cherished memory will be the Sunday gatherings at Art's house which was a weekly tradition for over 30 years. Sunday will never be the same.
Survived by his loving daughters, Marlene (Gary) Hinthorn, Nancy (Robert) Munday, Sr., Elaine (Michael) Bessette, and Laura Jahnke; dearest grandchildren, Jeffrey (Christina) Hinthorn, Tracy (Jeremy) Minski, Kelly Hinthorn, Kevin (Heather) Hinthorn, Bob (Missy) Munday, Jr., Colleen (Ryan) Nurczyk, Scott (Jen) Munday, Erin Munday, Kristine (Ryan) Hill, Lauren (Jaime) Newell, and Renee (Craig) Schwab; 18 great-grandchildren who were the joy and love of his life, Christopher, Joshua, Tyler, Brennen, Carter, Addison, Matthew, Samantha, Haley, Ava, Ella, Katelyn, Kyle, Hayden, Natalie, Nolan, Olivia and Aubrey; sister-in-law, Margaret (late John) Slucki; brother-in-law, Thomas (Helen) Hucik; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Irene (nee Hucik) Jahnke (April 6, 2012); parents, Arthur and Julia (nee Gaczkowski); great-granddaughter, Kenadie L. Newell; one sister, Joyce (Wesley) Wilson; and a niece, Mary Ellen O'Brien.

Funeral Services for Arthur R. Jahnke will be Monday, November 19, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
