Thomas L. Friedrich
Thomas “Tom” Friedrich passed away on October 8, 2024, at the age of 73, surrounded by his beloved family at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL, from a sudden stroke. He had fought valiantly against illnesses for many years to stay with his family in his home, adapting to life with a leg prosthesis, in a wheelchair, and was proud of his gained upper body strength and progress. As he always supported his family throughout his life, they supported him throughout his illnesses until his passing.
Tom worked for Acosta Inc. as a Sales Representative for 29 years until his long-awaited retirement in 2015. He was an active member of the Joliet Moose #300 since 1982.
Tom enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and fishing with his children and grandchildren as they grew up. His hobbies were golfing, cooking on the barbeque, bowling, playing and watching baseball as a loyal White Sox fan, and in later years loved the NASCAR races, even getting to take his wife to the Indianapolis 500. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas and the Rocky Mountains. Tom and his wife, Linda, had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past April.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Leo Friedrich, and his sister, Mary Pat (Jeff) Storm.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda, daughters, Amy Overstreet and Sally (David) Lorge, son Brian (Jolyn) Friedrich, and grandchildren Jared (Samantha) St. Juliana, Brett Garrett, Natalie Friedrich, and Julia Friedrich. He is also survived by his siblings, Douglas (Melanie) Friedrich, Michael (Gloria) Friedrich, and Joanne Friedrich, along with many other family members. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation for Thomas L. Friedrich will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Funeral services will be Monday, October 14, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., from the funeral home to Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Avenue, Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL.
