Obituary of Eileen Kirkpatrick Contos
Eileen Kirkpatrick Contos, of Bolingbrook, passed away at the age of 68, on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. Eileen was born in Dixon, IL, on January 25, 1956, the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (nee Hodgen) Kirkpatrick. She graduated from Joliet West High School with the Class of 1973 and received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of St. Francis in 1976. She was a long time member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church and retired as the Director of Midwest Christian Montessori Academy in 2022 after more than 30 years of dedicated service.
Eileen enjoyed a good book and was a talented artist. She enjoyed painting, pottery, traveling when she had free time, and more than anything, spending time with her grandchildren. Eileen has been instrumental over the last year in the planning of her 50th high school reunion. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Eileen is survived by her cherished daughter, Stephanie Manis; her beloved son, Alex Contos; grandchildren, Aleyna and Ayden Manis; siblings, Colleen (Art) Tofte, Maureen (Mark) Fumagalli, and J. Michael (Diane) Kirkpatrick; and her nieces and nephews, Amy (Bob) Dudeck, Shawn (Megan) Tofte, Matthew (Mina) Fumagalli, Michael (Tiffany) Fumagalli, and Ryan (Savannah) Kirkpatrick. Numerous great-nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
She is preceded by her husband, James G. Contos; her parents; and her in-laws, George and Helen (nee Policondriotes) Contos.
Visitation for Eileen Kirkpatrick Contos will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL with Trisagion Services at 5:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Midwest Christian Montessori Academy, 314 E. Briarcliff Rd., Bolingbrook, IL 60440.
